Fruit & vegetableHarvestCompanions

The garden berry that is not a true berry — a swollen receptacle wearing seeds on the outside, and a June that does not keep.

Garden strawberry is a New World hybrid (F. virginiana × F. chiloensis) made in France. Traditional use is as ripe fruit. Culinary amounts are the path. They do not store. Wild woodland strawberry (F. vesca) is a different, tinier perfume. Leaves have a tea folklore; this plate is the fruit.

Flavor

Perfume, acid, sugar. A hothouse winter berry tastes of the box. A June berry tastes of the field.
